The Beautiful Lives Project is a nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities through inclusive community events. We provide 5 different programs including: sports, performing arts, visual arts, nature, and wellness. We invite individuals with disabilities of all ages to come participate in our community events. Each unique event will provide the opportunity to experience sports, performing arts, visual arts, nature, or wellness in an inclusive environment. We also invite volunteers to join in the fun! After each event, we find that the volunteers feel like their lives were impacted as much as or more than the lives of the participants.The inspiration for the Beautiful Lives Project came from Co-Founder Bryce Weiler. Bryce was born premature with a condition called Retinopathy of Prematurity, causing him to be blind from birth. Bryce grew up listening to sports on the radio and became an avid sports fan. He studied Sports Management at the University of Evansville and had the opportunity to commentate soccer games. He was also invited to sit on the men's basketball bench during his four years at Evansville, which heavily influenced his sports experience. Bryce went on to graduate school at Western Illinois and began creating programs for people with disabilities after graduating. He wanted to create programs that would provide people with disabilities similar sports experiences as he had with the Evansville men's basketball team. The Baltimore Orioles and New Britain Bees were the first teams to join Bryce in his work, and many more teams have been added to the list including: Evansville Otters, College of the holy Cross Baseball, Syracuse Chiefs, and the Chicago White Sox. We are excited to expand our programs and offer upcoming events with college dance teams, ballet companies, and other visual arts events.
