KATC went on the air in the fall of 1962 as an affiliate of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Each week, more than 377,000 people tune into KATC-TV3 for local and national news, talk/variety and game shows, soap operas, information and entertainment, sports, movies, children's, and public affairs programming. KATC-TV-3 is carried on cable systems throughout Southwest Louisiana to viewers in Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes. KATC-TV3 is owned by Scripps which has a portfolio of 60 television stations in 42 markets.
