Boho Strings is a professional string orchestra located in Borgerhout (Antwerp). The ensemble was founded in 2015 by conductor David Ramael, and brings together some of Belgium's finest string players.Boho Strings tells musical stories about important social issues. In recent years the ensemble has presented programs on the threat of nuclear war (Trinity), with and about refugees (La Captive) and on radicalization among young people (D-Radicalize!). With these programs Boho Strings is a regular guest in all of the major concert venues in Flanders, such as deSingel, BOZAR, Concertgebouw Brugge and De Bijloke.Boho Strings also released a new CD "Nostalgia" at the beginning of 2019. This CD combines older and newer works for string orchestra by Wim Henderickx. "Nostalgia" has received unanimous praise in important music journals.Gramophone Magazine writes "The number of string ensembles active may be considerable but Boho Strings is second to none in terms of its dynamism and unanimity of response."BBC Music Magazine awarded the album 4 out of 5 stars and featured the title track in the week's playlist.De Standaard gave the album 4 out of 5 stars.
