Secretary and Vice-Chair of the Board at Study Association for European Studies - Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
The Study Association for European Studies (SES) aims to support the study programme European Studies at the University of Amsterdam in multiple areas for the benefit of its students. One of the hallmarks of European Studies is that all students have room to explore their own interests in the form of variants, minors and elective courses. This makes it harder to build up a social network within the study. SES is at the centre of students' social life at European Studies. Since its insurrection in 1987 the association has grown to be the largest of its faculty. SES organizes numerous activities to provide students with the best possible years of study. First and foremost, our aim is to provide a deepening of our understanding of European Studies through our lectures, debates, day trips, study trips and other study related activities. Amongst these our quarterly magazine Eurovisie plays a critical role. It contains many interesting articles about Europe and related subjects, as well as the latest developments within our study association SES.Besides a deepening of our knowledge, fun is also an important factor of what SES provides. We meet every Tuesday night for drinks in Café Sanders (Raadhuisstraat 6). We also throw a number of fantastic parties every year. And not unimportantly at the start of every semester we sell our members study books at lowest possible prices. In order to achieve all of the above and more we have instituted multiple committees. Members of SES that would like to continue learning outside of the theories of their books can find their place in one of our varied committees. Through the help of our many active members, the University and not least our sponsors the SES is a vibrant and growing study association.
