Director of Waiver Services & Project Coordinator for Supported Decision-Making/Guardianship at Ohio Network for Innovation - Mount Vernon, OH, US
ONI networks and collaborates with community partners to find creative solutions to their problems. We have helped organizations, families, and individuals bring their ideas to life. We started as a nonprofit organization in 2018 and have been helping communities meet their needs in new and creative ways ever since. Sometimes this means trying something that hasn't been tried before, and other times this means removing the barriers and blockers to discover the best path forward. Here are ways we've helped others since we started in 2018:A couple of organizations needed affordable housing opportunities for people they served, so we created a housing corporation to help meet that need!We heard there were people who wanted to work for employers who weren't quite ready to hire new employees. So, ONI agreed to become the employer of record allowing these people the opportunity to earn money and gain experience while the employer focused on getting the job done. Everybody wins! A number of counties in Ohio wanted help to learn about a movement that's gaining a lot of momentum in their field. So, we created a project to educate them and provide them with the resources they need to not just be a part of that movement, but to be leaders in it. This is a project that has now reached thousands of people and lead to new perspectives and practices in the field! One family and their son wanted to come up with a long-term plan to meet his needs without having to give up control to other people or organizations. So, we brainstormed, partnered with a local college, found a way to provide him the services he needs, and created our Self-Directed Support Program to help that family and others like them! If you have problem you need to solve or an idea you want to brainstorm about, reach out to us! We'll be excited to hear from you.
