Barefoot Sailing Club is a nonprofit organization founded in 1971 for people who love to sail on Lake Lanier - whether or not they own a boat.NOTE: BFSC COVID-19 Policy:Barefoot Sailing Club wishes to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission at its events. The safety of our members and their guests are our primary concern during the pandemic. All skippers and their crew/guests should follow the CDC, State of Georgia and local guidance, such as use of face masks, hand-washing and social distancing, especially when on land... Our cruisers enjoy monthly "First Saturday Cruises" (we just resumed in April!)And our racers compete in racing series spread throughout the year including:Dean Holcomb Poker RunAround Alone Race Spring SeriesJoan Holcomb Memorial Women Skippers RegattaMoonlight Race SeriesFall SeriesBarefoot Open RegattaDorton Cup SeriesTwo of our highly anticipated regattas are:1) Joan Holcomb Memorial Women Skippers Regatta (May 15, 2021) This race is held in memory of Joan Holcomb, Commodore of BFSC 1994 and LLSC 2002. To race, a woman must helm the boat and make tactical decisions. Men are welcome to crew. Come on out, folks!and2) Barefoot Open Regatta (Oct 1-3, 2021)Typically held the first weekend in October, this is the LONGEST running regatta on Lake Lanier! Although 2020's Barefoot Open was confined to racing events on the water, we hope to safely resume the full schedule of regatta activities this fall. From the Friday night Skipper's Meeting to the Saturday morning continental breakfast, the two full days of racing for all fleets, and the fantastic parties and food. All of this is on top of having one of the best venues for lake racing and knowledgeable/experienced race committee and judges. It's a formula for a great weekend of sailing! Open to all sailboats on Lake Lanier with a current PHRF certificate. The 47th BFO will be held the weekend of October 1-3, 2021. Join us!
