Ritmo DMV was founded in 2010 by Judith "Judicita" Condezo. Having learned much about the salsa industry through her parents' company Oscar's Productions, she decided to start the team with a small group of talented, young dancers. Mixing on1, on2, rueda and caberet styles, Ritmo DMV is a unique team to the Washington D.C. area. Our choreographies not only include salsa, but we combine different Latin styles like merengue, bachata, cumbia, reggaeton, to traditional Latin folkloric styles like marinera, festejo, Afro-Cuban, to non-Latin dances like hip-hop, stepping, belly dance, etc. The main goal of the group is to provide dynamic, entertaining routines that not only push their our personal limits, but provide an insight into salsa and Latino culture to all audiences. Our name, Ritmo DMV, is indicative of our style. "Ritmo" meaning rhythm, the rhythm we dance to, as we all have our own individual styles and talents we bring to the group. DMV (no, not Department of Motor Vehicles) stands for DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Our group is made of dancers from this area, as well as different ethnic backgrounds, another trademark of this region, and we hope to travel to represent our region with pride.
