Physical Therapist, Pelvic Health Specialist at Movement Systems Physical Therapy - Seattle, WA, US
The Movement System Brings it all Together. Human movement is a complex behavior within a specific context.Physical Therapists (PTs) are too often identified by what we do, not by what we know as professionals. Although public recognition for physical therapist practice methods and outcomes is essential, understanding that PTs achieve these outcomes through clinical reasoning and practice that emanates from a distinct body of knowledge is crucial to expanding our professional identity. Defining and promoting the movement system as the core construct that integrates this body of knowledge is no small task. The movement system is the integration of body systems that generate and maintain movement at all levels of bodily function. Human movement is a complex behavior within a specific context, and is influenced by social, environmental, and personal factors. As movement system practitioners, our Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT) have the expertise to examine, diagnose, and treat all elements of the movement system to produce a meaningful change in your movement behavior and physical function. Our DPTs use their integrative knowledge to establish a plan of care, based in movement related interventions, to maximize physical performance of people of all ages, pathologies, or levels of physical function. Our mission is to improve the health of the public by fostering a more active population, returning patients and clients to participation in life, and reducing the consumption of high-cost medical procedures and pharmaceuticals - when possible. The DPTs spend 60-minute sessions using a 3:1 active to passive model of care. Although we are skilled in manual therapy techniques, the emphasis is on custom prescribed exercise and movement/posture training to address underlying factors, helping you to feel "forever better" by empowering YOU to take control over your current pain levels or physical limitations. Now serving south Lake Union, Mercer Island, and Gig Harbor.
