In 1889, our founders, Rudolf Schülke and Julius Mayr, developed the first brand-named disinfectant - Lysol®. In 1892, this groundbreaking product was instrumental in combating the raging cholera epidemic in Hamburg, Germany. What began with the protection of people from harmful microorganisms was carried over into the protection of industrial and cosmetic products. In 1978, schülke launched its first cosmetic preservative: euxyl® K 100. Sensiva® SC 50 (ethylhexylglycerin) was launched in 1993, introducing a new category of multifunctional additives for use in personal care products.
