HistoryMaymar Consulting Engineers and Architects was formed by Mr. Hafiz Sadiq Hussain (Late) and Mr. Syed Mazhar Ali (Late) in 1966. Shortly after its formation, it became one of the leading architectural and engineering consultancies in the country. After a period of seven years, the firm decided to move into the construction and housing services space.Consequently, on July 07 1973, Maymar Housing Services (Pvt.) Limited was founded. With this milestone step, the company moved into the construction business on a grand scale. Between the years 1973 and 1980, Maymar completed projects comprising of 1150 apartments and 100+ bungalows. It also built a low-cost project of 225 apartments for the Capital Development Authority in Islamabad.In 1980, Maymar launched its capstone venture of Gulshan-e-Maymar. Initially started as a 139-acre model community just outside Karachi, quickly expanded to over 1000+ acres, as people continued to be fascinated by this quaint township and its array of amenities that were not available anywhere else in the city.The company meanwhile continued to move forward with its construction activities, developing another 1300-plus apartments, more than 300 bungalows and townhouses, and approximately 2950 units of low-income housing in Maymarabad.Alongside its mainstream business activities, the company also played its due role in the social and educational uplift of the broader community by constructing either for free or at nominal cost health and educational facilities.On August 31st, 2007, the founding families of Maymar sold their 100% equity stake to an experienced group of real estate developers and professionals. The acquisition of Maymar by this group has breathed new life in the organization.
