Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity: provides safe, decent and affordable housing to working families earning 30% to 60% of the area median income (AMI) in Salt Lake County since 1986. Qualifying families are expected to provide 200 hours of sweat equity and complete 25 hours of education before qualifying for a zero interest mortgage. The affiliate has built 91 homes in Salt Lake County, housed 355 people including 128 children.Our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative seeks serve more families by responding to community aspirations with an expanded array of products, services and partnerships, with the mission of empowering residents to revive their neighborhoods and enhance the quality of life. The program has benefited 299 Salt Lake County residents including 189 children and 37 senior citizens. These low income residents are experiencing improved health. Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity also operates a home improvement thrift store called the ReStore. Located on 1300 South and 500 West in Salt Lake City which compliments our mission for affordable housing as well as providing for an additional method to donate to our organization. Over 391 tons of materials are redirected away from the land fills and re-purposed and recycled.
