STI spun off from Earth Information Technologies, Corp. (earthit.com) in 2002. STI's flagship product is known as the Soil Information System (SIS). The SIS has been commercially utilized on 4 continents and at over 600 sites. The SIS consists of a unique and patented system of hardware, software, algorithms, and databases for the creation of soil information products. A soil information product is a detailed 3D soil map with actionable information associated with it such as water, fertilizer, or pesticide usage. These products are fed directly into a variety of technologies that take advantage of the actionable information such as irrigation systems and other variable rate technology. The SIS is also being used outside of agriculture in areas such as levee inspection and construction site analysis.
