SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter has been a crucial part in savouring the Indian art forms and culture at an around Pantnagar since 15 February, 1984. The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian heritage by promoting Indian classical , folk and regional music and dance forms, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture. SPIC MACAY was established by Dr. Kiran Seth in 1977 at IIT Delhi, and since then its acting as a youth movement with chapters in over 300 towns all over the world one of which is in Pantnagar.SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter aims to behold experiences for the spectators with some of the greatest living exponents of traditional Indian art forms. We endeavour to propagate the perpetual learning we have gained through the years of depth and beauty of the Indian Classical Heritage to young students and professionals. To fulfil the objective SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter have till now successfully organized a plethora of events featuring eminent Indian artists in the field of Indian Classical music and culture such as 'Wadali brothers, Malini Awasthi, the Manganiyars, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Shri Kheta Khan and troupe and many more. The ceaseless efforts of chapter members, staff counsellor, coordinator, Pantnagar university administration, is presenting a patronage to this running legacy. Our vigilance and efforts have even got recognition by various esteemed personalities & also from our respected Prime Minister .Dharohar- "The National level annual Literary & Cultural festival is a prominent part of this chapter celebrated as a three day extravaganza comprising of 12 events like Roobaroo, Jhanak, Ahwaal, Antarbodh, Raaga, Parivesh etc which are organised with an attraction of 2000+ students from different colleges from Uttarakhand & nearby places, promising big prizes and incentive to the winners.
