Conscious House has been born out of my passion to learn as much as possible about the world of conceiving, designing, building and living in sustainable places. I've long been interested in sustainable materials and buildings, and it's always been my dream to build a sustainable home. By sustainable I mean to build a home based on the principles of minimising the use of energy intense resources, reducing the impact of the process on the environment and providing a positive example of what's possible when you build a dwelling consciously.That said, as the time approached for me to form more concrete ideas about what I might build, I became aware that there are so many approaches, methods and materials to consider.From passive house design, tiny houses, container homes, pre-built, modular, demountables and off grid to energy rating systems, solar systems, composting toilets, sustainable communities, clever building materials, efficient appliances... it's never ending!I'm by no means an expert on any of this, in fact that's what inspired me to start Conscious House. With so much to learn I thought I'd document my learning journey, link in the useful resources and insights I come across, and share those learnings by developing a knowledge hub that others might find useful too.It's a place where people can learn, discuss, contribute and become informed.
