Serving the Michiana region for nearly 50 years, the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) works to foster regional planning in Northern Indiana. The MACOG serves the citizens and local governments in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St Joseph Counties. MACOG is a regional intergovernmental agency established to foster cooperative, coordinated and comprehensive planning activities that focus on areas of interlocal importance. This includes but is not limited to transportation, transit, economic development, environment, and other topics that may impact the region.The organization was formed under the 1964 Amendments to the Interlocal Cooperation Act of the Indiana General Assembly, Section 53-1101 to 53-1107 and the Urban Cooperation Act No. 7, Michigan Public Acts of 1967. Bylaws were adopted by the organization on December 2, 1970. MACOG provides services to member governments and others through planning analysis, data collection, and mapping services. Aerial photographs, maps and a variety of publications are available to the local government and the public.
