The Carnegie Club of St Andrews takes its inspiration from one of Scotland's greatest historical figures, Andrew Carnegie. In 1901, Andrew Carnegie was elected Lord Rector of the University of St Andrews. He also donated US $10 million at that time to establish the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland. Andrew Carnegie's legacy can still be felt today in Scotland, his place of birth, as well as across the United States. His hard work and generosity led to the building of thousands of libraries and hundreds of schools and colleges and the establishment of the first organization for world peace, The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The Club aims to embody the values that St Andrews' former Lord Rector lived by: an eagerness to learn leading to continual self-improvement, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Throughout Andrew Carnegie's life, he strived to create institutions for the benefit of mankind. The Carnegie Club of St Andrews seeks to provide a platform through which the leaders of today can debate contentious issues and pass on their experience and wisdom to the leaders of tomorrow.Throughout the academic year, The Carnegie Club of St Andrews holds dinner debates, lectures, panel discussions and networking events that allow students of the University to make the intellectual and personal connections to succeed with their academic and career ambitions. We look forward to meeting you at one of our events.
