Welcome to East St. Louis School District 189, a district with a rich history of famous and accomplished students. We are immensely proud of the accomplishments of alumni such as musician Miles Davis, athletes Jackie Joyner Kersee and Kellen Winslow, Emmy award-winning media executive Charlotte VM Ottley, and surgeon Kanesha Lafaye Bryant. We are also researching and implementing best practices that have proven to increase student achievement and financial stability.
