The Department of Communication is housed in the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences at Clemson University. The department offers a B.A. in communication, an M.A. in communication, technology and society, and is one of several departments collaborating in a Ph.D. program (rhetorics, communication and information design). The department administers Clemson University's Communication Lab and Forensics Team and supports general education through COMM 1500: Introduction to Human Communication, COMM 2500: Public Speaking and other courses.Recent revisions to our undergraduate program and the addition of our M.A. in communication, technology and society reflect the ever-evolving nature of communication. Our department is committed to being a leader on state, national and global levels.The communication department is home to nationally known scholars conducting cutting-edge communication research in health and sports communication, new communication technologies, organizational communication, media and culture. Many of the faculty boast degrees from Top-20 research institutions and regularly publish in the most prestigious academic journals, including Journal of Communication, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Communication Research, Communication Education, Journal of Health Communication, Communication Theory, Western Journal of Communication and Southern Communication Journal.Our department stands ready to serve as a resource to the media and community. Faculty members have expertise in range of issues—including sports communication, new communication technologies/social media, health communication, personal relationships, teaching and learning, and other topics of interest. Members of the news media regularly call upon our faculty members to provide expert advice and insight on a variety of communication issues.
