Our vision is for a world with good mental health for all. Our mission is to help people to thrive through understanding, protecting and sustaining their mental health. The Mental Health Foundation is the UK's charity for everyone's mental health. With prevention at the heart of what we do, we aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems. We actively engage with employers to help them improve mental health in the workplace, through corporate partnerships, research and products such as online mindfulness training, company-specific videos, publications and resources. Mental health problems are the leading cause of sickness absence. A staggering 70 million work days are lost each year due to mental health problems in the UK, costing employers approximately £2.4 billion per year. The social challenge of our time is to reverse the growing level of mental ill health. The overall economic cost to the UK is £70 to £100 billion a year. Equally challenging is the estimate that only about 25% of people with a mental health problem receive ongoing treatment, leaving the majority of people on their own, dependent on the informal support of family, friends or colleagues.Good mental health is fundamental to thriving in life. It is the essence of who we are and how we experience the world. Yet, compared to physical health, so little is commonly known about mental ill health and how to prevent it. That must change. We must make the same progress for the health of our minds that we have achieved for the health of our bodies. And when we do, we will look back and think that this was our time's greatest contribution to human flourishing. The Mental Health Foundation is a UK charity that relies on public donations and grant funding to deliver and campaign for good mental health for all.
