Shower of Hope is an initiative to break the cycle of teenage pregnancy and ultimately have an impact on the cycle of poverty. Shower of Hope began because of the great need we have seen in the lives of pregnant teens, especially those in lower socioeconomic environments. The majority of these girls are in great need of proper baby supplies and have very little understanding of how to adequately care for, nurture, and raise a baby. Many of them are unaware of the various agencies and organizations that are out there to help them. They are often kicked out of their homes, drop out of school, and eventually fall into becoming another statistic where the likelihood of their own child having a baby in their teenage years increases tremendously, thus adding to the greater cycle of poverty. And all of this is a huge problem that too often receives a blind eye from our society. It is our mission to develop events where we can provide pregnant teens with many of the major necessities for the first year of the baby's life, connect them with personal mentors and case workers, and ultimately break down the cycle of teenage pregnancy by providing these girls with hope and an opportunity to succeed, both as mothers and students.
