The SCATeam is a non-profit volunteer organization of about 40 amateur radio operators who are part of the Utah County Emergency Preparedness plan. We work as a subsidary of the Utah County Sheriff's Office. We are trained in Public Service Ecomm, ICS, and NIMS and may be activated at the discretion of the Sheriff's Office to aid in times of crisis. We are associated with both ARES and RACES. We have been used to support wildland fires, flooding, landslides, search and rescue, mountain rescue, chemical spills, and public service events among other things. We maintain liaisons with city and hospital EOC's through out the county. Team members put their professions first, but if necessary and with the permission of their employers may request to use leave or a vacation day once in a while to support requested call outs.
