Capital Bank opened for business on Wolf Road in the Town of Colonie in December of 1995. The Bank was founded by a group Albany-based business people and community leaders. The founders knew there was a niche for a new commercial bank in the Capital Region. On October 15, 2010, it was announced that Capital Bank would soon be joining forces with a bank in the Southern Tier of New York State, Chemung Canal Trust Company.
