Empowering younger stroke survivors, their families and friends to reclaim their lives and ambitions through active support Different Strokes currently does this by:organising a national network of weekly exercise and support classes,providing practical, easy to use information for the recovering stroke survivor and family members,offering a 'StrokeLine' telephone service so that younger stroke survivors can speak to other younger stroke survivors,keeping stroke survivors informed, through newsletters, social media and other means, of developments relevant to them.We provide an important voice for younger stroke survivors to Government, service providers and funders, fighting for better standards and improved understanding. The World Health Organisation commended the Different Strokes' approach using our provision as a model for similar provision throughout Europe.Different Strokes is run by younger stroke survivors for younger stroke survivors. Trustees are all stroke survivors or family members. Staff and volunteers are generally stroke survivors or have close personal experience of stroke.
