460 degrees Kelvin—also called Absolute Zero—is the theoretical temperature at which matter is so cold that it becomes superconductive, superfluid, and given molecules will slow down and line up orderly into what's known as perfect crystals—"one in which the internal lattice structure extends uninterrupted in all directions." It's the opposite of chaos, the opposite of entropy. I bring up this scientific fact because we have been dealing with a massive temperature change in the courtroom environment. The courtroom and its relationship with technology over the past decade has been characterized by wild and unpredictable fluctuations in temperature, and while the rest of the world is becoming more conductive, more nimble, and more fluid than ever, the courtroom must realize it must find order in its chaos. Or in the words of Gar Blume, a practicing attorney, "For 42 years it's been theatre and now it's film."We have to adapt, we have to change, but how? In pre-pandemic discussions we heard the need for interpreters to have the ability to perform simultaneous interpretation remotely without having to manage multiple devices. We also heard the need for a more robust virtual experience that mimics the real physical proceeding for those that had to be virtual. This discussion gave birth to an idea of how courtrooms will grow in the 21st century. Fast forward to today, this is now a need. Interpretation demand is high and courtrooms are seeking pristine audio and video capabilities to handle the move to virtual.BEINCOURT is the only end to end technology software platform on the market today that addresses the needs for the physical/virtual courtroom and for interpreters and their teams to have a technology (web application) for simultaneous communication between the Limited English Proficiency person (LEP) and the courtroom environment. Eliminating wasted time, improving communication speeds, and delivering a streamlined experience to virtual interpretation.
