MissionFounded in 1988, The Arnold P. Gold Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that champions the human connection in healthcare. We engage schools and their students, health systems, companies, and individual clinicians in the joy and meaning of humanistic healthcare, so that patients and their families can be partners in collaborative, compassionate and scientifically excellent care.We work with medical and nursing schools, and in hospitals and other professional settings across the U.S., to sustain the commitment of healthcare professionals to provide compassionate, collaborative and scientifically excellent patient care. Nearly all medical schools in the United States host at least one of the Gold Foundation's programs, such as the White Coat Ceremony and Gold Humanism Honor Society, which now boasts more than 150 chapters and 30,000 members. In 2017, we created the Gold Corporate Council, to elevate humanism in healthcare and help advance the Gold Foundation's mission. The Gold Corporate Council represents some of the world's foremost healthcare companies and a diversity of businesses within that industry. The five founding members are: BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), Henry Schein, Inc., IBM Watson Health, Medtronic and Quest Diagnostics. The Gold Corporate Council members have committed to adopting humanistic policies and procedures within their own organizations and to partnering with the Gold Foundation to impact change across the broader community. Our Tell Me More® program, which helps patients and the health team to get to know each other beyond diagnoses and job descriptions. is expanding into clinical care settings.
