The Department of Cinema Studies at the University of Oregon serves as a dynamic interdisciplinary major, program, and way of life at the University of Oregon. The major allows students to study moving image media as multicultural, transnational and richly humanistic phenomena. As a comprehensive liberal arts degree, the major cultivates an appreciation of the arts, an ability to communicate ideas using a broad array of media, and an understanding of how various cultures tell their stories. The department is made up of over 300 students and faculty members from a diverse background of academic fields and industries.
