EK BİÇ YE İÇ is an urban farm/restaurant/meeting point, where (literally translated from our Turkish name,) we "Plant'n Harvest Eat'n Drink". At the edge of Taksim Square in Istanbul -the de facto center of the city- we grow leafy greens and vegetables indoors and outdoors in our backyard using various urban farming methods including aquaponics and hydroponics. With the produce we grow ourselves and some we source from local organic farms, we serve a soup & salad based menu. We also house a resource hub, which offers an ongoing event and workshop program on urban farming, healthy eating, and sustainability. We aim to build a community of people who are intellectually, emotionally and physically engaged in making our mega city more livable and more enjoyable.
