Mercy Iowa City was established in 1873, by four Sisters of Mercy. Today, Mercy is an acute care community hospital and regional referral center for southeast Iowa, providing a full range of medical services at the hospital and through 27 primary and specialty care clinics. Mercy's downtown campus includes the hospital, medical office building and cancer center. Mercy is accredited by The Joint Commission. Recent Awards: The Center of Distinction Award was given to Mercy Wound and Vein Center by Healogics, the nation's leading and largest wound care management company. Mercy is one of only two hospitals in the state of Iowa to receive Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ for 10 consecutive years (2008-2017). In 2017, Mercy Iowa City was recognized as top 10% in nation for Orthopedic Surgery and Joint Replacement Care by Healthgrades.
