On March 16, 1994 the Willie Mae Mitchell Community Opportunity Center was established as a community-based youth organization. On November 21, 2001 the organization was accepted into the membership of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and was renamed the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas (BGCSCT).Since its inception, the BGCSCT has proudly served the youth of Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays counties. Our Club provides children with a safe place to learn and grow; ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals; life-enhancing programs and character development experiences; and hope and opportunity for all members. We are a private, non profit 501(c)(3) organization located in San Marcos, Texas. One of the BGCSCT's most unique features is that it is only one of two clubs in the United States that operates a charter school, Texas Preparatory School, which implements BGC programs and operates according to the BGCSCT mission.MISSIONOur mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We have meaningful programs and qualified individuals in place to ensure that we are able to accomplish this mission daily.
