Beaver Racing is Oregon State University's Baja SAE racing team. We have been competing in SAE competitions since 1978 and have remained in the Top 10 since the early 2000s. Beaver Racing is comprised of interdisciplinary students, spanning from engineering to business, all working in cohesion towards the goal of 1st place. Our team takes classroom concepts and stretches members to apply them to real world scenarios. Members learn how to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment and strengthen their interpersonal skills in addition to their technical skills.About Baja SAE®Baja SAE® consists of competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain. The objective of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a challenging project that involves the design, planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market. Teams compete against one another to have their design accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm. Students must function as a team to not only design, build, test, promote, and race a vehicle within the limits of the rules, but also to generate financial support for their project and manage their educational priorities.SAE is the best opportunity available at OSU for students to create professional connections and relevant experience in the automotive or motorsport industry.
