The Innovation Academy is dedicated to implementing the newest and most promising practices in education. We seek to be a model for the educational community and we enjoy sharing our journey and our expertise. We believe that learning should be both engaging and social. To this end, our students work in groups in order to tackle challenging curriculum, and we teach all content through projects. We believe that students should learn 21st century skills like problem solving, communication, research and collaboration, so we incorporate these into the projects. Teachers work together to design projects lasting usually 3-4 weeks. These projects are designed from the state standards ensuring that students are learning the material that they need to know. The projects often incorporate multiple subjects simultaneously. Finally, we believe that education should be individualized for all students. We strive to develop projects that allow students to operate at multiple grade levels. Furthermore, we encourage students to work ahead on their own or address weaknesses that they have identified with the help of their mentor teachers and parents.
