Aero SAE Heavy Lift Group (HLG) is a student led engineering design club at the University of Alberta. Aero HLG is comprised of mainly mechanical engineering students interested in improving and applying their skills. Members of the club design and construct a model aircraft to compete in the SAE Design Competition held annually. Each year a new aircraft is made according to the specifications of the competition so members learn to apply their creativity and adaptive skills to create an aircraft. A select few members attend the competition which is held annually and includes clubs from universities around the globe. Currently, Aero HLG is involved in the advanced class of the competition.
