Imperial Lighting was founded in 1973 by Leon and Cary Mendelsohn who remain owners of the closely-held family business. Our company has grown to become the largest independently-owned lighting service contractor in Chicago. Leon Mendelsohn founded the forerunner of the company in 1955, and his son Cary joined him in 1973 to open Imperial Lighting Maintenance Company. Starting in 2002, the third generation joined Imperial Lighting and today, Scott Mendelsohn, Todd Mendelsohn, and Lisa (Mendelsohn) Orloff manage the company and are an integral part of its continuing growth. Imperial Lighting started with 5 employees and has since grown to over 60 full-time personnel.At Imperial Lighting we pride ourselves on the longevity of our employees. Our leadership team has a combined 150 years of experience within the lighting industry. Our team of technicians and lighting contractors have an average of 25 years' experience with Imperial Lighting.
