For 28 years, Project MEND has been committed to improving the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities and illness through the refurbishment, reuse and distribution of medical equipment and other assistive technology. We collect pieces of gently used medical equipment and other assistive technology and repair, refurbish, and distribute it to individuals in need. We serve people. We serve the young and the old; veterans, their spouses and children; and the homeless. We serve individuals living with disability and life-altering illness who are economically challenged, unemployed, insured, uninsured, or experiencing gaps in their insurance. Whatever the need and regardless of personal situation, we are here to serve. The innovative idea to repair and refurbish used medical equipment that would otherwise be discarded helps us to serve persons of all ages living with disability and life-altering illness. We help individuals in need acquire the right tools to overcome or better manage a disability. While there are hundreds of agencies serving the lack of financial stability and housing, we are the only licensed nonprofit agency serving South Texas with refurbished and sanitized medical equipment and other assistive technologies. By providing the medical equipment, Project MEND contributes to increased mobility, independence, and improved quality of life for individuals living with disabilities.
