Starfire is a person-centered organization focusing on building inclusive lives and communities. Starfire believes people's skills and passions are bigger than their labels. In order to lessen social isolation, and increase togetherness, we build stronger social networks from a capacity-based approach. Together with families, staff, and people with the label of disability, we work at connecting people who share common interests in their own neighborhoods. We invite everyone to build inclusive lives together. Starfire's public facility in Madisonville accommodates seminars, exercise instruction, art classes, cooking lessons, and various other presentations by the community. Also, we spend much our time in ordinary places throughout Cincinnati, such as coffee shops and other local hot spots. We base much of our foundation on John O'Brien and Connie Lyle O'Brien's "Five Valued Experiences": Sharing Places Experiencing Respect Making Choices Making Contributions Building Relationships
