LFCS was started in 1868, in the wake of the Civil War, as a promise to a wounded soldier to take care of his surviving son. Today, LFCS is a statewide organization providing services annually, touching the lives of thousands of children and families in need. Our services include adoption, foster care, parenting, counseling, disaster response, and child development. In addition, LFCS advocates for Missouri's vulnerable families and works to improve government policies that affect children and families.
