The Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM) is a Singapore-based volunteer orchestra committed to philanthropic acts and high standards of musical performance. OMM was founded in 2008 by talented musicians who graduated from local educational institutions and had no viable platform to continue pursuing orchestral music. The Orchestra has more than 100 registered members from all walks of life, with an average age of 21. Since its founding, the orchestra has received excellent press reviews and substantial recognition for its spirit of enterprise and musicality. Press coverage includes articles in Gramophone Magazine, Fanfare Magazine, Mostly Classic (Japan) and The Straits Times. The orchestra was also awarded the 2009 HSBC Youth Excellence Award for Musical Excellence. OMM has also featured in the Cheltenham Festival, Lichfield Festival and Singapore Arts Festival in 2012. OMM considers service to humanity as part of its goals. To date, the orchestra has raised more than S$300,000 for charitable causes such as the Straits Times Pocket Money Fund and Children's Cancer Foundation.
