Tall Ships Adventure Academy is a not-for-profit registered charity that provides education and training in a demanding environment to allow young people to develop leadership qualities and self-reliance through the medium of sailing vessels. Founded in 1984, we provide youth with the opportunity to reach new heights through adventure and character-building experiences. Tall ship sail training programs are aboard the brigantines Fair Jeanne and Black Jack in the St. Lawrence Seaway/Great Lakes. Youth 12-14 sail on the 87' Black Jack in the sheltered waters of the 1000 Islands between Cornwall and Kingston. Youth 14+ sail the 110' Fair Jeanne for 10-day voyages and a 24-day expedition with high school credit. More than sailing, these camps and voyages challenge youth to step away from the digital and toward a hands-on, confidence-building experience leading to greater self-reliance and opportunities for growth in both teamwork and leadership skills. Youth can return to work toward crew positions.The organization also offers field trips and small group sailings for both high schools and corporations.
