The EBA UEMS is the Section and Board of Anaesthesiology within the UEMS. It brings together Leaders in Anaesthesiology from Europe with the main aim of creating European standards for education and training in Anaesthesiology, creating Training Guidelines, accreditation training centres in Anaesthesiology, making patient safety recommendations regarding Anaesthesiology practice (including Intensive Care and Pain Medicine), and making recommendations on issues related to working conditions of Anaesthesiologists. It has three standing committees ("Education and Professional Development", "Patient Safety" and "Workforce, Wellbeing and working conditions") and is led by an elected executive committee (President Lennart Christiansson, Vice-President Elisabeth van Gessel, Secretary/Treasurer Carmel Abela). Members of the EBA are practising anaesthesiologists who are nominated by their respective official national medical organisation for a 4 year term.
