Clinical Consultant, Group Facilitator, Lecturer, Therapist, and Activist at Recovery Africa - N/A, N/A, N/A
Recovery Africa (RA), headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland, is a U.S.-based assistance organization that supports alcohol and drug dependency response programs in Ghana. Recovery Africa brings together like-minded organizations and individuals to share ideas and information related to the critical social needs that are specifically generated by alcohol and drug dependency and abuse. Recovery Africa addresses these needs by providing technical assistance, exchange programs, research, fundraising and issue awareness building activities in North America that support these core services and enhance the recovery infrastructure. RA has as its foundational framework Recovery-oriented Systems of Care. In such a system we believe and understand the importance of networks --formal and informal. We envision the complete network of indigenous and professional services and relationships that can support the long-term recovery-health-wellness of individuals, families and communities. Services are developed and mobilized to sustain long-term recovery for individuals and families impacted by addictions. We also support the creation of values and policies in the larger cultural and policy environment that are supportive of the recovery process. We would like to duplicate our success in Ghana by extending our resources to other African countries.
