The Pickerington Local School District (PLSD) is located 25 miles southeast of downtown Columbus. The school district serves approximately 10,600 students, pre-school through twelfth grade and covers an area approximately 20 square miles, including the City of Pickerington, Violet Township and neighborhoods within a small portion of the City of Columbus. PLSD features 15 school buildings, which includes seven elementary schools (grades K-4), three middle school schools (grades 5 & 6), two junior high schools (grades 7 & 8), two high schools (grades 9 - 12) and one community school (grades 9 - 12). PLSD has set a goal to become one of the state’s top-performing school districts and it continues to build a legacy as one of Ohio’s most respected school districts. All of the district’s schools have earned an respectable ratings on their State of Ohio Report Cards, and the district has earned “Excellent” or “Excellent with Distinction” for six years. In addition to providing challenging academic offerings for all students, PLSD prides itself on the wide array of opportunities for students to benefit from team and personal success, including athletics, performing arts, and club activities. Nearly 70% of the district’s high school students belong to a club or organization, and approximately 50% of the students also participate in athletics or the performing arts. One of the primary measures of a school district’s success is how well students are prepared for life after graduating high school. Eighty percent of the district’s graduates attend college, with seventy-five percent of those attending four-year colleges or universities, including some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions. Our mission is to provide all children an efficient and nurturing educational environment which creates life-long learners who are socially responsible citizens. We believe children are our primary focus.
