Climate change is having an impact across the globe. Here, in our urban environment, these shifts are felt in our neighborhoods, parks and backyards. This is why we work to combat the effects of it, from managing excessive stormwater flows, to pollutants in our water, soil and air, and to connect each other with the environment to create positive change. From large green infrastructure projects that divert and infiltrate thousands of gallons of stormwater to residential projects that keep basements dry while providing beautiful native landscaping, UpstreamPgh has become the region's leading resource for water management. Our heritage in Nine Mile Run, coupled with hundreds of projects via StormWorks, provides our community with hands-on, brains-on solutions. In 2021, to recognize our proactive approach to stormwater problem-solving and its impact across the region, we became UpstreamPgh. Together, we are working to address the environmental problems that are happening in our communities by thinking, speaking and acting upstream. We invite you to join us.The Nine Mile Run Watershed Association complements this amazing physical transformation with a variety of innovative projects designed to directly involve the community in helping to improve the health of the watershed. We run programs that include watershed tours, educational workshops, volunteer opportunities, and a variety of other interactive events. In 2011, we created a social enterprise called StormWorks, which specializes in stormwater management products and services, including rain barrels, rain gardens, and stormwater planters. We offer these services throughout Allegheny County. We are continuously working to engage more citizens in watershed improvement and look forward to a time when all watershed residents feel connected to the place they live.
