The SEED School of Washington, D.C. is the nation's first urban public boarding school, whose primary mission is to provide an outstanding, intensive educational program that prepares children, both academically and socially, for success in college and beyond. The school serves 325 students in grades 6 - 12. All SEED students live on campus from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon when they return home for the weekend. The dormitories are organized into small "houses" of 10-12 students per life skills counselor for afternoon and evening routines such as study hall, house meetings, and social activities. We provide a safe and caring 24-hour boarding experience. To date, 94 percent of the school's graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges and universities. The SEED School of Washington, D.C. was created in 1998 by the national nonprofit The SEED Foundation, which also opened The SEED School of Maryland in 2008.
