The PROMPT Institute is dedicated to investigating and promoting holistic, dynamic, multi-sensory assessment and interventions for individuals with speech production disorders. Responding to a lack of effective treatments for children with severe motor speech impairments, Deborah Hayden developed the PROMPT approach, which uses specific tactile(touch) input to the articulators rather than auditory or visual input, to facilitate improved communication. Based on cross-disciplinary clinical and theoretical perspectives, PROMPT integrates the use of tactile input into a practical intervention program that addresses all aspects of communication and aims to promote functional interaction.The PROMPT Institute offers intensive, hands-on workshops to speech and language professionals around the world(CEUs provide for ASHA members.) We also provide scholarships for SLPs as well as treatment grants and support for indivuals with motor speech disorders and their families.
