Hi there, and welcome to Hume Toastmasters!If you've ever wanted to speak with confidence then you've come to the right place.I noticed that it doesn't look like too many people are attending this meetup. Is it still on?Yes! We are a club that exists outside of Meetup. We have been running for about five years and we usually have around ten to fifteen people at each meeting. The dates for 2017 are:January: Holidays/Break, February: 14/02/17, 28/02/17 March: 14/03/17, 28/03/17 April: 11/04/17, 25/04/17 May: 9/05/17, 23/05/17, 30/05/2017 June: 13/06/17, 27/06/17 July: 11/07/17, 25/07/17 August: 8/08/17, 22/08/17, 29/08/2017 September: 12/09/17, 26/09/17 October: 10/10/17, 24/10/17, 31/10/2017 November: 14/11/17, 28/11/17 December: 12/12/17Does it cost anything to visit?No. To visit as a guest is free. You can come and observe, or if you're feeling confident you may be able to take on small roles. If you would like to join and to start giving speeches, you will need to become a member, which does incur a small fee.Is it expensive?No. There is a $80 biannual fee and a $20 joining fee. This is much lower than most courses and seminars that we've seen. The reason we can offer these low prices is because the club is run by volunteers.Why would you volunteer your time for free?Because we're good people!But what's in it for us you ask? Well not only do we get a change to give something back to new members, we also get an opportunity to learn and practice our leadership skills. You too can have this opportunity! Toastmasters offers training for leadership as well as for speaking.I've tried to contact you through Meetup but noone's replied. What gives?Sorry, I'm not too good with Meetup! That's all well and good, but I'm very shy and I've always avoided speaking in front of people before, and I'm scared out of my mind!That's fine, most of us started there. At our meetings we have a warm and friendly environment in which you can work through a structured manual to improve your speaking skills at your own pace.I'm normally very confident, but when I speak in front of an audience I go to pieces.
