The Pink Finss Charity was established in 2010 by founder Jodie Amor. Jodie is a local Hawkesbury resident and was diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 years of age. With a very young family to look after, Jodie realised how isolated she felt going through treatment and living in the Hawkesbury (with the closest treatment a 45 minute drive away) so joined forces with a few friends to set up an organisation to help other local women on the same journey. The Pink Finss started holding fundraising events to raise money to help others and since 2010 the Charity has raised over $2 million and helped almost 200 women and their families through their cancer diagnosis. The Pink Finss is a grass roots organisation that gets in and offers practical help such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, mental health services, oncology massage, financial help with wigs, medical and living expenses. What makes the Pink Finss unique is that we get to know each woman that we help and really find out what they need to get them through this tough time. The Pink Finss offers a personal touch like no other. All of the service providers we use are sourced locally meaning that funds raised are being spent back in the community.By far the most important thing the Pink Finss provides is the unwavering support of others going through cancer. Being able to talk to others who understand the feelings and emotions you go through when diagnosed with cancer and having treatment is priceless. Monthly support group meetings held in the privacy of the Pink Finss rooms means these connections can be made and friendships formed that last a lifetime!
