Created in 1962 through the merger of three Girl Scout Councils, the mission of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland is to develop girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. It is the largest leadership development organization for girls and provides programs and initiatives that build the character and skills necessary for success in the real world. Girl Scouts design robots, start garage bands, and improve their communities—and yes, they sell the best cookies on the planet.Governed by a 26-member Board of Directors and under the direction of a 52-person staff, GSCM serves more than 24,000 girls and 9,000 volunteers in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties.
