Secretary Board Of Directors at HOPE Dementia Support Groups - Vancouver, Washington, United States
HOPE thrives with the support of our volunteers and donors. The Board, Advisory Board and facilitators are volunteers – all passionate about providing support, education, and advocacy for those caring for a loved one with dementia. In 2018, HOPE began to partner with the community to increase support. We now provide monthly educational offerings and a dedicated committee works tirelessly to create a yearly dinner/auction in the fall, our major event intended to support HOPE's initiatives. In addition, HOPE participates in the Sundown Squad's Longest Day, interfacing with both caregivers and those dealing with memory loss. HOPE also leads a team for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. HOPE has many opportunities to increase dementia support through community partnerships:Support groups meet weekly. We have numerous requests to start additional groups, which we will do when we train more facilitators. We continue our monthly Community Education events, open to anyone who wishes to attend.Current programs, such as Mary Ann's Babies and Celebrating Dreams are supported through targeted donations. We have exciting plans to use donated funds to bring Music and Memories to those with dementia, and to create Memory Activity Boxes for those with memory loss during a hospital stay.We are affiliating with "Re:Membering," a collaborative modeled after Momentia in Seattle. The program creates activities to enhance the lives of those with dementia in the community. Our Advisory Board consists of individuals with expertise for caring for the needs of senior/dementia populations to provide input on our current initiatives and growth strategies.President: Benjamin SurmiVice President: Julie DonovanExecutive Director: Lynn Crawford
