CARE for the Cape & Islands was founded in 2012 to connect visitors to Cape Cod with opportunities to support local organizations committed to the long-term sustainability of the region through contributions of time, talent or treasure. Visitors are invited to give back by making a financial donation, participating in volunteer opportunities such as beach clean ups and environmental research, and sharing their personal knowledge and expertise with local organizations and projects. In addition, CARE works to strengthen the image of tourism businesses as "good citizens" who support the local community projects, aid the development of customer loyalty, and build employee pride.This unique and pioneering effort engages hotels and other tourism businesses to promote local environmental and social projects to visitors, particularly during the summer tourism season.CARE's mission is "Creating A Responsible Environment" that helps to preserve the very things that our visitors travel to see and enjoy: exquisite natural beauty, marine and wildlife habitats, and Cape & Islands' culture and history.
