Digital Marketing and Communications Manager at Neuroblastoma Australia - Crows Nest, NSW, AU
Neuroblastoma takes the lives of more children under five than any other cancer. The average age of diagnosis is only two years old and the survival rate of aggressive neuroblastoma is sadly just 50%.It may shock you to realise that childhood cancer is under-funded. They are generally 'rare', so the cost of creating new drugs and treatments is not considered 'commercial'. Current treatments (which are only partially effective), are terribly toxic and as a result, one third of the children who survive the cancer will have long term side effects from the treatments. In 2010 Neuroblastoma Australia was started by families and friends affected by neuroblastoma. Since then, we have raised over $2.1 million for research into better, kinder and more effective treatments for this childhood cancer. We still have a long way to go. Neuroblastoma Australia is a registered charity (with GDR status) and we have many opportunities for both individuals and businesses to make a huge impact. For our major events such as Run2Cure Neuroblastoma (www.run2cure.org.au/) which will be held in Sydney's iconic Domain on Sunday 2 June in 2019, we have sponsorships, volunteering opportunities and incentives to encourage corporate teams to participate. We are registered with a variety of online portals (such as www.gofundraise.com.au, www.good2give.ngo, www.goodcompany.com.au, www.mycause.com.au and www.everydayhero.com/au) to make workplace giving, individual fundraising and volunteering easy for our supporters. If you, or your business, are interested in supporting us in any way, please contact our president and founder Lucy Jones via Lucy.Jones@nb.org.au
